Only when growth and decay are undisturbed, each species finds its own place.

Little by little, the natural cycle of growth and decay sets in. Young beeches strive through a gap in the crowns to reach for light. All trees can mature and die without any disturbances. Each step of their evolution creates changes and habitats for new life. Middle-spotted woodpeckers and nuthatches forage for food hidden in or under the bark.
