The Old Pine Tree

In the 19th and 20th century, pine trees were planted on the soils that were exhausted by overexploitation. They were used as support beams for the mining industry in the Ruhrgebiet. Their "screaming" warned the miners working in the shafts of a collapse. Today, the pine tree forests are converted into mixed forests.
